About SUSDURA

SUSDURA is an integrated composite manufacturer with more than three decades of experience in thermoset composite materials, electrical insulation, molded components and industrial FRP products.

Founded in August 1990 by Mr. Dibo Xu, SUSDURA began with the successful development of composite enclosures for battery storage systems used in wind- and solar-powered leakage monitoring equipment along oil pipelines. In this demanding outdoor application, composite materials demonstrated clear advantages in high strength, UV and weather resistance, chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, long service life and low maintenance requirements. This early project established the technical foundation for SUSDURA’s long-term development in advanced composite materials.

Since then, SUSDURA has continued to develop and manufacture FRP and thermoset composite solutions that replace conventional materials such as steel, aluminum, cast iron, concrete, wood and thermoplastics in applications where weight reduction, insulation, corrosion resistance, durability or design flexibility are required.

In 2012, SUSDURA expanded its operations in China, strengthening its manufacturing and engineering capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region. Today, the company has developed into an integrated composite manufacturing platform covering SMC and BMC material development and production, compression molding, BMC injection molding, FRP pultrusion, FRP grating, product engineering, mold design and manufacturing, secondary processing and mass production.

SUSDURA has served projects for Fortune Global 500 companies and other leading international industrial customers, with extensive experience across electrical and power distribution, electrical insulation, automotive and EV, rail transportation, energy infrastructure, outdoor enclosures and industrial composite applications. This multi-industry project experience has enabled the company to build standardized engineering, quality-control and production systems capable of supporting both new product development and stable high-volume manufacturing.

The management and engineering teams focus on integrated manufacturing rather than material supply alone. By combining material formulation, product design, process development, tooling, testing, molding, pultrusion and volume production within one manufacturing platform, SUSDURA supports customers from initial concept and material selection through tooling validation and long-term mass production.

With a strong emphasis on engineering capability, repeatable quality, process control and industrial-scale production, SUSDURA positions itself as a long-term composite manufacturing partner for global OEMs seeking reliable thermoset composite solutions.

Stable Supply & Delivery

SUSDURA supports stable and responsive Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) and Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) material supply through continuous production and controlled storage. Our SMC and BMC production lines can operate 24 hours a day, allowing us to respond quickly to regular and urgent customer demand.

Finished materials are stored in a temperature-controlled cold storage system to help maintain material stability before shipment. For established customers with stable specifications and repeat orders, SUSDURA can typically maintain a delivery lead time within 5 days for orders up to 10 tons, subject to material grade and production scheduling.

Core Products

  • Sheet Molding Compound (SMC)
  • Bulk Molding Compound (BMC)

Batch Consistency & Color Control

SUSDURA uses automated feeding and weighing systems for SMC and BMC production to improve formulation accuracy, batch consistency and production repeatability. Key raw materials are automatically metered according to the defined formulation, reducing variation caused by manual weighing and helping maintain stable material performance from batch to batch.

For color control, pigment paste is proportioned according to specified formulation ratios, while different colors are managed through separate and isolated handling procedures to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. This is particularly important for customers requiring stable appearance, repeatable color matching and long-term supply consistency.

By combining automatic raw-material feeding, precision weighing, controlled pigment-paste dosing and isolated color management, SUSDURA can provide more consistent SMC and BMC materials for continuous molding production and repeat orders.

Custom Material Development

SUSDURA provides custom SMC and BMC material development based on the customer’s application environment and performance requirements. Our engineering team can adjust the formulation around key properties such as electrical insulation, weather resistance, flame retardancy, acid and chemical resistance, thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, tensile strength and dimensional stability.

Depending on the application, formulations can be engineered by selecting and adjusting resin systems such as unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester, reinforcement content, fillers, additives and other functional ingredients to achieve the required balance between performance, moldability and cost.

Material development is supported by our in-house laboratory for performance testing and material validation. Testing capabilities include flammability testing, weathering evaluation, mechanical and strength testing, and other application-specific material tests, helping customers verify material performance before moving into mold trials and mass production.

Raw Material Control

Resins, glass fibers, fillers, flame-retardant systems, low-shrink additives, pigments and other key raw materials are purchased through a qualified supplier management system. SUSDURA applies incoming inspection, batch control and traceability procedures. Customer-designated raw materials or approved supplier lists can also be supported for specific projects.

Application Experience

SUSDURA’s SMC material grades have been successfully applied in long-term industrial programs serving global companies including Schneider Electric, Siemens and Eaton. Grades such as SUSDURA-3212 have been used in large-scale production of ACB composite frames and other circuit-breaker components, with UL-recognized material support and a production history of more than 15 years in the electrical protection industry.

This long-term application experience demonstrates the importance of consistent formulation, stable electrical performance, dimensional control and repeatable molding behavior for high-volume breaker production.

For rail infrastructure, SUSDURA-6513 long-glass-fiber SMC sheet has been approved for use in cable support structures for railway projects, including applications associated with China Railway First Group. The material is developed for long-term outdoor service, combining structural strength, weather resistance and corrosion resistance, with the goal of supporting extended infrastructure service life and reducing maintenance frequency.

These projects reflect SUSDURA’s ability to develop and maintain application-specific SMC material grades for demanding electrical and transportation environments, from formulation and testing to continuous production and long-term supply.

Export Logistics for SMC & BMC

For SMC and BMC material exports, logistics control is critical because temperature during transportation can affect storage stability and molding performance. SUSDURA has practical experience coordinating refrigerated container bookings, temperature parameter settings, route selection and transit planning for overseas shipments.

Before shipment, our team confirms the recommended storage and transport conditions for the specific SMC or BMC grade, coordinates reefer container requirements with the forwarder and carrier, and reviews the shipping route and transit time to reduce unnecessary temperature exposure.

Combined with controlled packaging and cold-storage management before dispatch, this experience helps maintain material stability throughout international transportation and supports reliable delivery to overseas molding customers.
